West Coast

Untold and mysterious, the West Coast of the South Island offers a truly unique and exclusive experience. Crystal clear waters hold high numbers of brown trout winding through a steep and rugged landscape. It is for those who seek a unique challenge in their angling experience and yields only a high reward. Step up, be different – you’re stories and memories will be treasured for a lifetime.

Best time to go

Like with most of New Zealand, the West Coast offers world class fly fishing all year round. This is due to various water bodies remaining always open. The season begins in October and runs to April. Superb dry fly fishing can be found January to March. Late season fishing is productive as it this time when Brown Trout start to spawn putting them in great fighting condition.
